MEET THE FOUNDER

My name is Sade Makerra Auger, and I am honored to share my journey and the vision behind Hawk Lace with you. As a proud Cree First Nations woman, I carry the legacy of my ancestors in my heart and in my work.

My spiritual name, Pretty Voice Hawk Lace Woman, was given to me as a baby by my Grandmother (Kookum). My name comes with great meaning, and responsibility that not everyone can understand. Reflecting the sacred guardian animal spirits and messengers who walk with me, the main two being the Hawk, a powerful messenger, guides me with clarity and wisdom, and the second one being grandmother Spider, the lace of web, who is the weaver of destiny, writing, and reminds me of the deep connections that bind us all.

I grew up surrounded by my Elders, traditional healers, medicine people, ceremony, and mediums. My Kookum, Rose Auger—Woman Who Stands Strong—was a powerful and well-respected spiritual healer, known in our ways as both a doctor and medicine woman. She lived by Natural Law, never holding a western colonial job, yet she was always provided for because she followed our traditional ways and knew how to live in harmony with the land. She decolonized my young mind without me even realizing it—teaching me about animal spirits, plant medicines, and the sacredness of all life. She shared our prophecies with me, she only wore moccasins and dresses she made herself, and she passed down the art of crafting—jewelry, dream catchers, medicine bags, and other sacred items. Through her, I learned by watching and doing, by listening and feeling, and by walking in a good way.

Step into Healing

In November 2024, I was honored to showcase my jewelry as a featured artisan vendor at Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week (VIFW) at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Being part of this event was a powerful experience—standing alongside other Indigenous artists, sharing our work, and celebrating our culture.

Beyond VIFW, I’ve been a vendor at many events over the years, bringing Hawk Lace to communities far and wide. Whether it’s through my jewelry, my spiritual services, or the teachings I share, my work is always rooted in healing, empowerment, and honoring the wisdom of my ancestors. Each piece I create carries a story, a prayer, and a purpose. My hope is that when you wear my jewelry or receive a session with me, you feel the strength, connection, and spirit that guides my work.

My connection to spirit has been with me for as long as I can remember. As a child, I thought everyone experienced the world this way—seeing what is unseen, knowing what is unspoken, and dreaming of things before they happened.

I was always picking up on nuances, recognizing patterns, and understanding what was coming before others could see it. By the time I was ten, I was drawn to Tarot. My mom’s best friend was a professional reader, and I would beg for readings, though my mother always said, "Not until you're thirteen." At eleven, I received my first reading and soon after, I began teaching myself. By fifteen, I was reading for my family and friends, much to the delight of my Kookum and aunties, who now had their own personal reader.

First Nations Workshops and Healing with Hawk Lace, Vancouver Canada

With over 15 years of experience in coaching, counseling, and workshop facilitation within the First Nations community, I have dedicated my life to helping others heal and grow.

I offer custom workshops, consulting, and healing sessions—all designed to empower individuals and communities by providing leadership, confidence, and skill-building opportunities. My workshops are deeply rooted in Indigenous ways of knowing, bringing forward the teachings of our ancestors in a way that is relevant and accessible to today's world.

I also embrace my gifts as a spiritual healer, offering intuitive guidance and Tarot readings to help individuals navigate their journeys. My readings are gentle, bring healing, clarity, and direction so that you can move forward in a good way. I trust my gift, I trust Natural Law, and I trust that those who are meant to walk this path with me will find their way here.

At Hawk Lace, I am committed to bridging our Indigenous ways of knowing with the modern world, honoring the teachings passed down to me while making them accessible and meaningful for all.

Whether through my jewelry, spiritual guidance, or workshops, my purpose remains the same—to uplift, empower, and help others reconnect with their own sacred strength. If this is a journey or service you choose to embark upon with me, I hold my hands up in gratitude. Miigwech, Hiy Hiy, kinanâskomitin—thank you for trusting me to hold space and offer guidance for you, your organization, and your community.
